Lean – Texas-El Paso (+17)  21   UTSA  34

UTSA is an overrated team, as they’ve been lucky enough to face 3 backup quarterbacks that last 3 weeks that are all significantly worse than the starters on those teams. UTEP will start a backup this week but Brownholtz has experience and is a good runner, so I don’t see an drop in production from that position and the Miners may be in better shape.

UTSA has already clinched a spot in the CUSA Championship game and they may pull the plug on their starters early. Last season in the same situation coach Traylor pulled his starters at half time despite being unbeaten and ranked. Perhaps keeping his stars available for the conference championship game will be Traylor’s priority again given that he would receive another $25,000 bonus if he wins next week’s game while this week’s game makes no difference in the standings or in his bank account.
