Kentucky (-5)  24   SOUTH CAROLINA  23

South Carolina is 3-0 ATS under new coach Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks have been good defensively. Allowing 7.8 yards per play and 40 points to Georgia can be excused given how good that Bulldogs’ offense is and the Gamecocks only allowed 209 yards at 3.3 yppl to a decent ECU offense and shutout Eastern Illinois. Kentucky’s offense is improved with former Penn State backup Will Levis at quarterback, but for all those down the field passes that he’s completing (15.7 yards per completion and 9.2 yards per pass play) there are also interceptions being thrown (4 in just 79 passes) and South Carolina has picked off 2 passes in each of their 3 games and doesn’t given up many big pass plays (just 11.0 ypc allowed).

South Carolina’s offense is worse than average and starting Luke Doty isn’t going to change that reality, but the Gamecocks are good enough defensively to given them a chance at winning and I see some value with the home dog.
