Game Analysis
Lean – LOUISIANA TECH (+10) 24 Jacksonville State 30
Louisiana Tech covered as a Lean for us last week as a 10.5-point dog against a run-oriented Sam Houston State offense and this is another good matchup for a Bulldogs defense that is very good defending the run (just 4.0 yards per rushing play allowed to teams that would average 4.4 yprp against an average FBS defense).
Jacksonville State is certainly capable of taking advantage of a worse than average Bulldogs’ pass defense but they have run the ball 44 times or more in 5 consecutive games and I don’t see them deviating from a plan that has worked for them. That plan just won’t work quite as well against a Louisiana Tech defense designed to stop the run (their DC has had a better than average run defense for 18 consecutive seasons).
