Game Analysis
OREGON (-21) 49 Colorado 25
Colorado has great skill position players on offense and a talented secondary, even without injured star Travis Hunter, but the Buffaloes are weak on the offensive and defensive lines. I figured that the Buffs would have trouble running the ball and stopping the run, which has turned out to be true, but quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been much better than anticipated throwing the ball, as he’s completed 79% of his passes and averaged 7.5 yards per pass play against 3 teams that would combine to allow just 6.0 yppp to an average quarterback. Overall, Colorado has been 1.4 yards per play better than average offensively and they should have pretty good success against a good, but not great Oregon defense. However, the Ducks’ strength is defending the pass and Colorado throws the ball 71% of the time.
Colorado’s defense has been 0.4 yppl worse than average and they figure to be worse without Hunter. The Buffaloes have allowed over 200 rushing yards per game at 5.6 yards per rushing play and Oregon should average over 7 yards per run in this game while Bo Nix could top 10 yards per pass play.
I expect a lot of points in this one and Colorado is certainly capable of a back-door touchdown to cover if they get down by more than 3 scores. But, I think the right side is the Ducks.
