MIAMI-OHIO (-8.5)  23   Buffalo  12

Miami is relying on their good defense (10.2 ppg allowed in MAC games) with star quarterback Brett Gabbert out. Backup Aveon Smith started more than half the games last season when Gabbert was out and while not a good passer (2.0 yards per pass play worse than average since last season) he is a good runner and doesn’t throw many interceptions (just 5 on 259 passes).

Miami’s run-heavy offense with Smith behind center, combined with their strong defense (0.5 yards per play better than average FBS defense) against a horrible Buffalo offense that is 2.5 yppl worse than average should lead to a low scoring win for the Redhawks.
