Boston College outplayed Georgia Tech in Dublin, Ireland last weekend (6.5 yards per play to 4.1 yppl) but lost 14-17 thanks to a -2 in turnover margin. The Eagles’ offense looked improved and the defense is still among the nation’s best so good things lie ahead for BC. However, U Mass played respectably in a 7-24 loss at Florida (as a 37 point underdog) and BC’s conservative offensive game plan (67% running plays last week) isn’t likely to take full advantage of a U Mass defense that struggled in pass defense but is pretty solid defending the run – although they were good in both areas last week in allowing just 5.0 yards per play to the Gators. My ratings only favor Boston College by 14 points and the Eagles apply to a negative 21-51 ATS non-conference road favorite situation. I’ll lean with the big under dog and the under.
