Virginia Tech (-9.5)  27   STANFORD  20

Stanford QB Ashton Daniels is out due to an injury to his non-throwing shoulder and it looks like Justin Lamson will be starting at quarterback for the Cardinal, which is a huge downgrade at the position. Lamson has completed just 44% of his 97 career passes while averaging just 4.2 yards per pass play. When Lamson starts to struggle, which is likely, you might see coach Troy Taylor turn to top-10 QB recruit Elijah Brown, who was 7 for 7 for 97 yards in mop up duty against Cal Poly.

Stanford has been good defensively and Virginia Tech has not been as good offensively as they were last season so the Cardinal could keep this game competitive if the Stanford ground game can average the 5.4 yards per rushing play that my model is projecting.
