SYRACUSE (-10)  34   Virginia  24

Virginia quarterback Brennan Armstrong was one of the ACC’s best last season when he completed 65% of his passes and averaged 8.0 yards per pass play while adding 445 yards at 6.6 yards per scramble/run. This season Armstrong has completed just 53% of his passes for 5.9 yppp (he’s added 211 yards running at 7.8 yprp) and the Cavaliers are 0-3 ATS. Armstrong should improve going forward but Syracuse has been better than expected (3-0) thanks to the improvement of QB Garrett Schrader, who has completed 66% of his passes and is averaging 8.0 yppp with 251 yards running in 3 games.

Both defenses are equally mediocre (Syracuse 0.1 yards per play better than average and UVA rating as average) and the Orange have the offensive advantage based on this year’s production. However, the Cavaliers offense may be better going forward if Armstrong plays at his normal level and if that’s the case the line is high. However, the Cavaliers apply to a 7-47 ATS early season negative momentum situation. I’ll pass.
