Miami-Florida (+2.5)  33   LOUISVILLE  32

I like both of these teams and both played better than my expectations in their opening games. Louisville’s improved defense was even more improved than I had expected, as they held Western Kentucky to just 4.3 yards per play, while Miami covered the number in their 31-14 win over UAB. D’Eriq King had a pretty good debut for Miami with 97 rushing yards on 10 runs but he averaged only 5.1 yards per pass play and will need to connect on more downfield passes in order to keep up with Louisville’s potent attack in this game. Louisville has the offensive advantage with Micale Cunningham’s ability to connect on big pass plays (9.2 yards per pass play last season and 9.7 yppp last week) and Miami’s good secondary will be tested.

Despite last week’s good performance, I’m still not sold on Louisville’s defense being much better than average and I’ll lean a bit with Miami plus the points, as my ratings pick this game even.
