Game Analysis
Lean – COASTAL CAROLINA (-6.5) 39 Georgia State 28
Grayson McCall has been on the best quarterbacks in the nation in each of the last 3 seasons, averaging 10.2 yards per attempt with 77 touchdown passes versus just 8 interceptions. McCall hasn’t been so elite so far this season in a new system, as he’s averaged just 6.9 yards per pass play against teams that would combine to allow 7.1 yppp to an average quarterback – and his two interceptions is just one shy of his worst season in that category. I expect McCall to improve on his subpar numbers and last week’s easy 66-7 win over Duquesne could be the confidence booster that McCall and the Chanticleers needed. Georgia State has allowed 7.2 yppp to 3 teams that would combine to average only 4.7 yppp against an average defense so I expect McCall to have a great game tonight and I expect a lot of passing given that Georgia State defends the run well.
The Panthers can put up points too and Coastal Carolina’s defense is about as bad as the 3 teams that Georgia State has averaged 39.3 points against. My math favors Coastal by 6.5 points, so the line is far, but the Chanticleers apply to a 109-42-1 ATS situation that has me on their side.
