Opinion – AKRON (-7 ½) over Marshall

Rotation #752 – 4:30 pm Pacific

Marshall has been a bad road team for years, regardless of the head coach, as the Mountaineers are just 79-116-1 ATS as a visitor since 2001, including 63-101-1 ATS as an underdog (9-15 ATS under current head coach D’Antoni). More recently, Marshall is just 9-28 ATS as a road dog of 12 points or less and today they catch an Akron team that applies to a 28-2 ATS subset of a 58-17-1 ATS bounce-back situation that plays on favorites that scored less than 50 points in their previous game. That 43-61 loss to Gonzaga was a result of just 26.7% shooting but that’s just a fluke given that Akron is a 47% shooting team for the season. The Zips will certainly be focused on the offensive side of the ball in this game and scoring will be much easier against a Marshall team that has allowed 45.4% shooting and ranks 218th in effective FG% defense.

Akron is 59-38-2 ATS after a loss 86-57 ATS in all home games under head coach Keith Dambrot and I like their chances to bounce back at home in this game. I like the angle and the team trends but there isn’t any line value (my ratings favor Akron by 7.7 points) so I’ll just lean with the Zips at -8 or less.
